Farm Management Consultant

Gasson Associates are a rural consultancy business providing full farm management services as well as consultancy advice to a diverse client base throughout the UK. We are looking to recruit a Farm Consultant to join our team based in North Oxfordshire.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone to take their career forward, working with our experienced consultants and a variety of land managers across a wide range of farming enterprises.

Responsibilities (will not be restricted to):

  • Farming Policy: Working with owners, farm managers and contractors on designing, adapting and implementing farming policy across the business to meet the clients’ aims and objectives.

  • Financial Planning and Analysis: Reviewing farm accounts, preparing budgets and cashflow forecasts and reporting against these.  Maintain good cost control including machinery replacement planning.

  • Strategic Business Planning: Preparation and implementation of short, medium and long-term business strategies.

  • Grants and Subsidies: Drafting and submitting applications as well as ensuring schemes are implemented and managed correctly.

  • Regulatory Compliance: Advising on and implementing current and future legislation on agricultural policy, environmental laws, health and safety and land use regulations.

  • Diversification and Growth: Advise on and implement diversification and development projects on farm.

  • Staff management: Recruitment and management of farm staff.  Carrying out annual appraisals and reviews.

  • Technical Optimization: Offer guidance on modern agricultural technology, precision farming tools, crop rotation, soil health and livestock management.

  • As well as: CFA management, grain marketing, property management.

Essential skills – candidates will need:

  • A good knowledge of farming and rural businesses
  • A degree in agriculture or land management

  • High attention to detail and accurate record keeping

  • Excellent communication skills – both written and oral

  • Excellent IT skills – including Microsoft office

  • Enthusiastic and willing to work independently and part of a team

  • Experience in farm/estate management or consultancy

  • Full, clean driving license and access to their own car

Competitive package, depending on experience, with company pension, health and life insurance and paid mileage will be offered along with opportunities for further training.
